From Quaker colony to suburb
Friendswood was founded in 1895 as a Quaker colony, the only permanent Texas town that started that way, and incorporated in 1960. It grew from about 500 residents in 1960 to 22,814 in 1990 and 41,213 in 2020, so much of its housing dates from the 1970s on, by our reading.
After Harvey
Hurricane Harvey devastated Friendswood in 2017, and residents have since built homes higher to avoid flooding. If your home flooded, keep records of what was repaired, and read about flood zones and foundation repair.
